Michael Chambers

BGMC Board Member & BGCA Alumni

Michael Chambers has more than 17 years of experience as an Environmental/Landuse professional. Before transitioning to his role with the Per and Astrid Heidenreich Family foundation, Michael served as the Director of Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency in Greenwich, CT. Michael received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg Virginia where he majored in Environmental Science and Biology with an emphasis in Coastal Ecology.


Michael’s commitment to community and projects serving the less fortunate is born out of his modest upbringing as a product of Public Housing in Greenwich, CT. It is this experience that shaped Michael’s unique perspective as a funder to the communities of need in lower Fairfield County. Michael believes the success of youth is directly attributed to the strength of their household and the community that surrounds them.


Michael is a Greenwich resident employed by Heidenreich Enterprises Limited Partnership as a Vice President and the Executive Director of the Per and Astrid Heidenreich Family Foundation. Michael is the co-creator of the Family First in Education program in Greenwich and is actively engaged in developing Norwalk’s most comprehensive public/private education partnership. Michael commit’s much of a free time participating in the operating boards of several local not-for-profits, including but not limited to the Norwalk Community College Scholarship Committee, Norwalk ACTS, Fairfield Counties Community Foundation Thrive by 25 Career Connection Committee, the Norwalk Aquarium Development Committee and Building Committee as well as the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT.
